We Run LA

This is a series of photography that I took around downtown Los Angeles. There’s just something about LA that I can’t get away from. Maybe it’s because I moved around to so many different places growing up in the LA County and it feels like home to me. I have lived in some good areas and I have lived in some pretty bad areas but my overall upbringing just makes me appreciate the potential that LA can offer. That being said, I decided to once again go and shoot some photos in downtown and I saw some interesting graffiti.

The first picture from Burbank.

So one day I decided that I really needed a haircut but I had a little problem…no car. My barber was a 40 minute drive from where I was staying in Burbank but I was looking like a hobo so I decided that I would take the bus. The estimated time was anywhere from 2-3 hours to get to my destination.

Knowing that I decided to bring my wonderful Nikon and read the manual. It got boring pretty quick then I just decided to get a little experimental and take photos while riding the bus. This photo series takes you on a journey with me as I went from Burbank into what people deem as “south central” LA to the downtown area. There is no particular order but these photos show some of everyday type of people and a little snippet of some LA culture ranging from residential areas to where people eat and transportation. These are raw and completely unedited photos and I sat on the left side of the bus for no particular reason. There will be a part 2 to this series coming soon.

Funny enough, it’s the same day I took this photo.

Technology is so amazing nowadays and it’s constantly getting better. Way back in the days, there weren’t cell phone that could do all of the things that we can do now. One of the best integrations was the fusion of phone and camera. Like many people I started realizing that I don’t always carry my camera on me (my Nikon) but my iPhone takes good enough pictures for me to enjoy and love. There are great apps that’s helps enhance the photos and makes photography fun. Check out a few of my iPhone photos.

I will post more and better photos in the future.

Stumble Upon is amazing for finding random sites and articles of your interest. I really like the concept of combining photography and drawing as a mixed media that the artist used to create these pieces of work. Check out the pics below, his stuff is awesome. Ben Heine: Pencil vs. Camera.

This is an experimental abstract photography series that I did based off of the 7 cue ball and flowers. I attempted to take a slightly different approach than some of the other “cool” billiards photography that I saw online. Seeing as how 7 is considered a lucky number and I could find flowers for it by color, I figured well why not?
